Olympic stadiums have been classified as high-tech building type in architecture filed at home and abroad because of its complex function, huge space, advanced facilities, and high technological content. It always absorbs the latest achievements into building technology, and leads the development trend of stadiums with a pioneering attitude. Therefore, the creation of the Olympic stadiums has close relationship with the progress of tecnologies. Recalling the history, we can see that the outstanding work of the Olympic venues without technical innovation is not a perfect illustration. The paper reviews the origin and developing process of Olympic Stadiums first, dividing the stages of the history from the perspective of new technical application and summing up the characteristics of each stage. Combining with the modern outstanding examples of Olympic stadiums, the effect of new technologies towards the creation of Olympic stadiums is analyzed from the views of information technology, structure technology, materials technology, eco-technology equipment and technical, which reveals the interaction of them. Finally, the author sums up the technological innovations of 2008 Beijing Olympic stadiums and predicts the future trends of Olympic stadiums, thereby creating a more systematic and creative strategy. The author holds that the creation of Olympic Stadiums will be more high-technical, more ecologic and more regional and presents three creating strategies according to them.
