The equivalent rigidity and the equivalent mass are derived from the theory of the equal potential energy and kinetic energy. Based on this, the physical model of the rigid suspension catenary is established. By using ANSYS, the finite element model of the catenary is set up. The free vibration frequency and mode of the rigid suspension catenary is determined by means of limit element modal analysis. Some vibration characteristics of rigid suspension is obtained from the simulation calculation.The factors of current-carrying quality between pantograph and catenary at high speeds are studied and the necessary standards of the pantograph /catenary system are developed. The finite element model of pantograph /catenary system is established and the simple analysis and the comparison of the contact force are studied under the condition of the changes, such as the span of the catenary and the velocity of the locomotive.The coupling dynamical model of couple pantographs/catenary systems is established and the contact force is calculated by means of limit element transient dynamic analysis. The analysis and the comparison of the contact force are studied in detail under the condition of the changes, such as the style of the span, the velocity of the locomotive, the stiffness of the rigid suspension, the span of the catenary, the parameters of the pantographs, the distance between couple pantographs and the catenary which is going unsmooth.The rail joint and the overlap which have influence with the contact forces are calculated .The result shows that the rail joint have little so far as to no influence with the contact force if only the rigid suspension is not installed at the rail joint. Despite transient off-line condition maybe come forth at the overlap, the contact force has no obvious variety compared to the normal condition.Three pantographs/catenary systems is established and the contact force is come out with the influences of the contact force from several factors taken into consideration.
