Beam string structure (for short BSS), with good mechanic performance and economic benefit, has been paid more and more attention to. This type of structure is a new pre-stressed spatial structure system, with such characters as forcing reasonably, light weight and less member types. However, with the joints of this structure type more, form diverse and forcing complicated, the design of the joints is especially important.The common and ripe styles of the steel tube joints are firstly summarized in this paper, and then the joints of several typical BSS projects in our country have been presented. Combing design of the BSS of the awning rebuilding project of Tianjin railway station, the joints including the anchorage bearing joint at the end of the cable, the joint of V-bar and cable, the joint of V-bar and upper chord tube, the support joint and the joint on top of column, have been designed and the right styles of the joints have been obtained after analysis and contrast. The finite element models of joints have been built. The nonlinear analysis on the ultimate bearing capacity of the anchorage bearing joint and the joint on the top of column has been carried on. The effect of the chamfer angle between the upper chord tube and the upper chord tube among two spans on the ultimate bearing capacity of the anchorage bearing joint has been analyzed. The weld length of the auricle and the upper chord to the ultimate bearing capacity and rigidity of the anchorage bearing joint has been discussed. The ultimate bearing capacities of the joint on top of column bearing axis load and eccentric load have been obtained.
