With the rapid development of modern industry, there are more and more increasing requirements required to the measuring instruments. It is difficult for the traditional control systems to meet the requirements of rapid measurement, precision positioning and versatility. With the tremendous development of computer technology, DSP technology, micro-electronics technology, modern electromechanical technology and control technology, the open motion control system based on"PC+ motion controller"has been widely used.To develop the General Purpose Measuring Instrument, achieve the measuring function, an open motion control system based on PMAC is made up in this paper. This system uses a dual CPU architecture composed by PMAC and IPC, in which the industrial computer platform acts as the foundation and the PMAC2A-PC/104 motion controller acts as the core of motion control. They constitute a typical open motion control system. The PMAC2A-PC/104 is used to control the real-time motion and manage the motion and PLC procedures; IPC is used to carry out the non-real-time task, such as initialization, code editor, parameter management.An entire AC servo motion control system is constituted. The PEWIN32PRO is used to initialize the corresponding variable of PMAC, adjust the PID parameters to make the system have a good motion performance. The flag I/O is used as the general-purpose I/O to achieve the control panel functions. The handwheel function is achieved based on PMAC's position following function. The program for the control panel using PMAC motion procedures and PLC procedures is designed and the method for preventing interference is discussed. The control program in IPC by communicating with PMAC using the communication functions provided by PCOMM32PRO is designed, and the state of PMAC can be displayed dynamically.This system has superior control performance, and can meet different measurement requirements only by changing the software a little without hardware changes. It makes our instrument versatile and flexible.
