| Space grid structure has got a rapid development in China in the past 40 years. But there are still many problems in space grid structures. Now, problems are focused on construction, and joint is an important factor that affects the quality of space grid structures. In this paper, associated with the construction of the barrel vault in the seaport of Qinhuangdao, a simulation analysis of the construction process and some study on the joint of space grid structures was done.Construction methods of space grid structures are summarized and analyzed. Geometrical nonlinear finite element method for pin-jointed element is introduced. Eight processing modes for the arch thrust of barrel vaults are summarized. Three of them, set tie-bar to resist the thrust force, improve pole rigidity to resist the thrust, release the thrust, are applied to the projects model. Their differences are analyzed on the base of the calculation results.The construction method, shift scaffold method, is introduced. A model is built by the program ANSYS to simulate the construction process. The members of the barrel vault are divided into four parts to extract results for individual analysis. Deflection and thrust force at the support are analyzed at the same time.Topics about materials, such as manufacturing, recheck and so on that may affect the building quantity are discussed. Design problems and construction problems are summarized and analyzed, way to solve or prevent the problems are brought forward and summarized.Space grids joints in China are summarized, their characteristics are analyzed. Improving way of the space grids is discussed based on the summary and analysis. At the same time, one method to improve the welded hollow sphere joint is brought forward. And two improving methods for the bolted sphere joint are brought forward. |
