Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) and Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) are the two most developed PT techniques based on the theory of Electric-magnetic field nowadays. Due to the advantages of non-radiant, non-intrusive, rapid response and low cost, ECT/ERT has the attractive developing potential in the field of industrial application and clinical diagnosis. ERT is suitable to measure two-phase flow in which conductive medium is taken as continuous phase, while ECT is suitable to measure two-phase flow in which non-conductive medium is taken as continuous phase. In order to fuse ECT/ERT measure data and expand the scope of application of ECT/ERT technology, a dual-mode electrical tomography (ERT/ECT) technique is proposed. Combined with ERT and ECT, the dual-mode tomography has advantages of acquiring more information and higher measurement accuracy.In this thesis, the mathematical models of the sensing electrode array is introduced, also its electric field characteristic and architecture parameter optimization are studied. Some main researches and conclusions are as follows.1. A unified mathematical modal of the ERT/ECT sensitive field is proposed based on the concept of complex conductance, and the solution of ERT/ECT forward problem is introduced using finite element method (FEM).2. Using ANSYS simulating software, the ECT /ERT electrode array is analyzed. Based on this model, the'soft-field'effect in which the sensing field is affected by the component distribution of the object is considered, the sensitivity matrix is calculated and the effect of sensing electrode array architecture parameters on sensitivity response is analyzed.3. ERT and ECT single modes are developed respectively. The optimizing object and principle are proposed, the optimum configuration of the electrode array is obtained.4. ECT / ERT dual-mode array electrode are developed, also this thesis points out optimization of the dual-mode array electrode should pay more attention to ECT. Based on FEM simulation, the mutual electric field effect is discussed, and optimum design of the electrode architecture is proposed, and the optimized electrode size is obtained.At the end of the thesis, the author presents some ideas to improve electrode array architecture.
