It has been applied one of the most extensive techniques in hypervelocity launching fields, because two-stage light gas gun can shoot the bullet of various shape, and be free from the restrict in the bullet of mass, size and material. This thesis will carry on the theories design, the ballistic experiment and numerical computation. In view of the whole gun cost, combining the actual circumstance of item and extracting experience from the experts at home and abroad, the small two-stage light-gas gun has been made sure to optimal. Considering the actual condition and the process craft level, the Caliber of projectile tube was fixed on 15 mm and the Caliber of pump tube was fixed on 40 mm.It is main purpose to get the regulation between the variable quantities and muzzle velocity to carry on the main mission of ballistic experiment and numerical computation. The mathematical model is established about the ballistic equations and aerodynamics equations for launching process of two stage light gas gun. The theoretical computation is accomplished with the Forth-Order Runge-Kutta Method and MacCormack Scheme. The two stage light gas gun is taken for the computing model of one dimension, and some data are obtained by computing the model in different loading conditions. On the basis of the results of analyzing, some laws of the effect s of loading conditions on the launching performance of two-stage light-gas gun are obtained. According to these conclusions, some advices are put forward on enhancing the launching performance of two-stage light-gas gun.It has been achieved the theories design and installation of the two-stage light gas gun. The ballistic experiment and numerical computation is been doing. They will furnish the experience in after research.
