As a new coming technique in the gas flow measure area, Ultrasonic Flowmeter (USF) is becoming the most favorite selection. Gas Ultrasonic Flowmeter is a new kind of flow instrument which works according to acoustic theory. It has been widely used in the field of watersupply, oil industry, chemical industry and electric power and it is with bright blueprint in virtue of its many advantages, such as non-contact, no resisting force and pressure loss in the pipe of flow meter, few relationship with physical feature of gas fluid and easy to use. In this paper, a gas ultrasonic flowmeter based on DSP has been designed, which contains electronic circuit of hardware and software design.DSP is the core of hardware, which controls the whole system to realize sampling of ultrasonic signal, processing of signal data, etc.The transmission and receiving of ultrasonic signal are controlled by software, and the recognition of arriving-time is based on self-adapting theory. The time-difference method is used in the measurement of gas mean flow rate, which can avoid the effect of temperature. The software is programmed with C and assembler language, which ensures that the software has clear structure and the short development cycle, at the same time, the high efficiency can be obtained.
