The discourse was directed at the insufficiency of the present protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings. In this article reviews the research history of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings and sums up the relative international organizations and programmatic documents about the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings. Through analyzing and referring to the cases of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings as well as comparing the background, conditions, dynamic mechanism, practice content and the development trend of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings in an abroad our country these years, the article analyzes and generalizes the insufficiency of the current situation of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings. Based on the fundamental principle of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings and after the analyses and study with examples on the designs and methods of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings, a conclusion has been drawn that a good case of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings can't possible be created without a designer's originality. Rooted in the conclusion, relative techniques of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings come up, considering that successful renovation can't go without supports of techniques. The target of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings can be realized only when advanced techniques and materials are used in the renovation design. The article focused on the energy saving strategy and then come up with three energy saving renovation methods. Directing at the problems of the three methods, it dose some analyzing and makes recommendations, aiming at guiding the practice of the protection and renovation of wasted industrial buildings, and providing reference for policy formulation.
