Along with the development of information technology in water resource industry,Sluice automatic monitoring system attracts more and more attention.While with the development of the modernization of water resource,the demand of the automation of resource scheduling, high reliable sluice gate monitoring system is demanded and the sluice gate monitoring system is also demanded to have the ability of network service, remote monitoring, better network patulous capacity and more system redundancy which will enable the system to meet the practical and hereafter's demand of informatization,automation, visualization ,etc.Take the Sichuan XueCheng hydropower station as a research object, the automated control method which took PLC as the control core was focused on, aiming at large or medium sized hydropower station's sluice gate monitoring system. From system integration standpoint, total solutions aiming at monitoring system were designed and the options of related equipments were also studied. On the option of PLC, by comprehensive considering, we took Schneider Electric's PLC as controller,which has had ripe use in hydropower station at home and abroad. A brief survey of some advanced technology which was applied to the sluice gate's monitoring system was reported,such as DCS technology, PLC technology, Ethernet technology etc.The design of control program was discussed and configurations of monitoring system were made.The components and the functions of the monitoring system were also analyzed in the paper.The configuration of the whole monitoring system can be divided into two parts,they are configuration of IPC and configuration of HMI in local control unit. In IPC control system,configurations aiming at both single sluice's control and three sluices'control in group were made. Software solution for monitoring system, data flow and other main module were designed in the paper. In local control system,configurations were made aiming at sluice control ,general quantities of state, electric parameters, analog quantities, temperature quantities and alarm panel. By now, the control system has been put into operation successfully and the results of actual runs show the rationality of design,the relability of motion and the advantages of funtion.The reliable design and the smooth runing in XueCheng hydropower's sluice monitoring system show that the unattended mode is really achieved. Great convenient and benefits are brought to the scientific management of the sluice station and even to the whole hydropower station.
