Along with the global resource shorting and environment deteriorating, the fuel economy and environment protection become two governing indicators for internal combustion engines' development. During the design of IC engine, the tribological design play a important role in determining the performance of these two indicators. The study of engine tribological design method aims at reducing mechanical loss, improving efficiency, reducing fuel loss, preventing severe wear and prolong machine lifetime, this kind of work is based on well developed lubrication analysis and calculation of several important tribo-pairs: rings-cylinder, piston-cylinder, bearings and valve system. In this dissertation, the complex engine tribological issues were broken down into a number of sub-issues by using the reduction method of artificial intelligence. So, the goal of engine system design will begin from the solution of the sub-issues. According to this idea, we construct the framework of the computer aided design system, and take the tribological analysis and design as the main function of the software. In order to complete the work of intelligent design and the work of analysis for engine components' tribological property, we integrated expert system as the sub-system. In addition, we specially considered the collaboration between software for analysis function. Finally, we use MS Visual C++ as software development tool, and use ACCESS as database management system, to compile the coding work of the software's framework. In addition, take the small end bearing as example, the software's some functions have been realized and worked well.
