On The Design Thought Of Yuanye

《Yuanye》was written by JiCheng that a eximious gardening experts of the 17th-century, namely, has more than 300 years history. The book is divided into three volumes. It describes a number of important design ideas and principles, and has a extremely detailed content that from the art ideas of gardening to the artistic conception ways, from the overall plans to the designs of individual architecture and from structural builds to detail decorations. The researches of "Yuanye" design ideas have been occasionally mentioned in art history and the other subjects of specific art. This thesis attempts to study and discuss its design ideas. The paper digs the real connotation of design ideas, feels the ancient people's fine thinking and wisdoms, efforts to export the basic characteristics of Chinese traditional design art and it uses for important reference meaning for contemporary Chinese art designs.The full text has four chapters as followed.Chapters 1 introduce the background and significance of subject,research methods, and summarize the present research situations and Jichen' s.Chapter 2 focuses on analyzing the design factors of "Yuanye". This part is the foundation of argument. It clarifies some of these difficult to understand and contentious areas, and reveals the relationship in design factors. This thesis tries to explore the sophisticated thinking of "Yuanye" design bases on foothold of the text through a large number of ancient literatures.Chapter 3 analyzes the design principles of "Yuanye". This part is the center of this paper. It has three levels: "elaborately using and arranging the space" for the whole configuration,"suitable place and decent garden " for choose the site and endow with a meaning, and "arbitrary holding, obey the arrange".Chapter 4 mainly exports the realm and condition of its design art. This is just the design conception that "Yuanye" went in for. It has two levels: "design like inartificial" and "Harmony". The design ideas have important significances for the sustainable development concept of contemporary design. These are also the author's study significances.Chapter 5 is the conclusion that points out the significance for the development of contemporary design that is contained in "Yuanye".
