Steel plate shear wall (SPSW) ,as a new lateral force resisting system. Experimental and analytical studies have identified unique performance characteristics, including high elastic stiffness properties, large displacement ductility capacities, and stable hysteretic behavior. At presented, large amount of research works be aimed at several kinds of SPSW, which is subjected to uniaxial compression. In practical engineering, in order to facilitate the opening of doors and windows hole, a new kind of thin steel plate shear wall with opening is presented in this paper.In this dissertation the quasi-static experiment on a 1: 3 scale specimens of one-bay single story SPSW with opening models are described first. This is followed by a description of the inelastic behavior of SPSW with opening modeling the experiment by means of the computer program ANSYS. Nonlinear finite element analysis of one-bay single story SPSW with opening with different moment-resisting frame, varying panel slenderness ratio were investigated and on the basis above. The main research works are summarized as follows: That elastic and elastic-plastic buckling behaviors changing stiffness ratio of stiffener to side column stiffness is not very notable; Stiffness ratio of stiffener to column stiffness has a significant effect on the SPSW with opening; The thick panel is different from thin panel in that the nonlinear behavior.The purpose of this study is engineering application. Based on experimental study and theoretical analysis using the suggested design and construction methods can not only possess sufficient ductility, but also improve its seismic property. All these conclusions and suggestions will be useful for engineering and lay a foundation for further study.
