A Study On The Development Pattern Of Public Space In Small Towns Of Hanzhong City In Southern Shaanxi

Hanzhong city locates in the southern part of Shaanxi province and its small towns bear a long history;however,due to the rapid development in recent years,the historical and cultural heritages in those areas have been damaged in different degrees.This thesis focuses on the public space in the small towns of Hanzhong city,and selects four counties of Ningqiang,Mianxian,Chenggu,Xixiang as the cases for study.With the methods of spot investigation,literature review,and fundamental research,this thesis presents an all-round study on the public space in the small towns of Hanzhong city,centers on its history and evolution,special features,and current problems.Based on the above analysis, it puts forward a healthy development pattern of public space for Hanzhong's small towns.The first chapter introduces the background,purpose,significance,and the related research of this study as well as the basic framework of this thesis.The second chapter studies the history and changes of the small towns in Hanzhong, including their natural and cultural backgrounds,histories,space evolution and the characteristics of the traditional space.The third chapter is concerned with the features of the public space in the small towns of Hanzhong.Beginning with an analysis of the shapes and types of public space,this chapter studies the zone characteristics of the small towns' public space,makes a comparative analysis of the traditional public space and the modern one in small towns, and sums up the types and distribution of public space.The forth chapter expatiates on the current status of public space of small towns in Hanzhong,sums up its existing problems,and analyzes the causes of the problems.The fifth chapter,with the basis of the above study,theoretically and practically explores a feasible healthy development pattern of public space of Hanzhong's small towns. Learning from the successful cases of public space construction,the author advances his own blueprint to construct the public space of the small towns in Hanzhong,i.e.,in the small towns of Hanzhong,the public space can provide a platform and window for tourism and green industry to display the local culture.Besides,the sustainable development of the local economy can promote the public space's development and hence form a sound interaction.The sixth chapter is the sum-up and prospect of the public space construction in small towns of Hanzhong.
