The research of sound quality which started in the late 1980s was mainly centered on the evaluation of sound quality and the evaluation was a method based on the sound perception. With more attentions from various aspects of society to the noise problems of product, the sound quality has been noticed to have great effect on the customer's choice of product.In this paper, firstly theoretical analysis for the vacuum cleaner noise is conducted, the structure and principle of vacuum cleaner is learned; the rule of noise radiation, the path of noise transfer, the source and spectrum of noise of the vacuum cleaner are researched. The annoyance of the vacuum cleaner noise is analyzed according to the relationship between function and sound of product.Secondly three vacuum cleaners based on different value are selected as testing products and the noise samples are collected in the semi-anechoic room. By analyzing the spectra of the noise samples, we make sure that the aerodynamic noise is the main cause of vacuum cleaner noise. New research is strengthening evidence that SPL and aerodynamic noise of vacuum cleaner can be lowered through reducing the sound between 2000-5000Hz.Thirdly the sound quality evaluation system has been built in the thesis. The questionnaire is designed through research and analysis, the typical noise sources are selected to make the sound samples for subjective sound quality evaluation. Through the subjective testing experiments, the results of the different vacuum cleaner sound quality are gotten. By the correlation analysis the annoyance factors of vacuum cleaner are confirmed; by the ANOVA and the box analysis the vacuum cleaner sample with better noise quality is acquired; by regression analysis the model between the subjective evaluation and the parameters of objective psychoacoustics is obtained.Finally the better sound quality sample is gotten practically with some experiments. The spectrum of vacuum cleaner is analyzed considering the influence of some psychoacoustics parameters; the improvement method of vacuum cleaner sound quality is given. Through the sea method and AutoSEA software, the noise improvement of vacuum cleaner is researched. Through the study, it is necessary to increase the body thickness, to improve the ventilation exit, to make the damp for the better sound quality and rationalize the noise frequency spectrum structure.
