The Practical Research On The Collage Between The East And The West Elements In Product Design

Collage is a kind of technique which was start from modern drawing and was widely used in modern and postmodern art and drawing, architecture design, city design, product design, photography, etc. Collage is also one of the most important features and design methods in postmodern art and design. This paper is researching on the modern use of the Chinese traditional culture in the field of product design from the direction of collage.This paper includes the discussion on the meaning of the collage between Chinese and western features in the field of product design, the evaluate standard in collage design behavior, and two series of different levels in product design from the east point of view and the west point of view. In this paper, collage design behavior in product design is divided mainly into four steps, such as idea, cut-in point, collage component, collage technique. And this kind of division gives a stronger relationship between the theory itself and the design practice. In the last part of the paper, the process of design of the torch for Beijing 2008 Olympic game is discussed to validate the collage theory.The further purpose of this paper is to do the further research on the modern use of the Chinese traditional culture. And give better suggestions to our traditional culture in the collision and communication between different cultures in modern world.
