As the development of the railway system reformation, the retaining of the passenger cars and freight cars increases year by year, and new type wheel of high technology are installed in succession. The deficiency of the wheel examination process in repair companies is exposed gradually, and the main aspects are as follows. First, the design of the examination and repair process is defective. Since existing wheel companies were built in 1980s, the system for the examination-and-repair tasks of the wheels was designed according to technologies and the types of the wheels at that time. Second, the layout of the equipment is irrational. Since more equipments have been installed, the examination-and-repair process becomes more inefficient. Third, the aging of the large-scale processing equipments influences the quality of the wheels processing. Forth, the equipment automation level is low. Fifth, the repair notes, data collection, statistical analyses, and the reports are still completed by hand, and there is a high degree of data redundancy. As the computer technology is bringing the society into the epoch of the knowledge economics and network, the application of information and network technology in industry lowers the cost and enhances the competition of the companies.Because of the factors above, we need to change the pipelining of the wheel examination and repair in three aspects: wheel examination and repair work flows, processing equipments, and data collection and transmission of processing stages. During the implementation of reformation strategy, we try our best to distribute and combine the personnel, equipment, and the materials space to get the maximal economic benefit.The reformed wheel examination-and-repair pipelining makes the system processing more rational by adopting advanced technology, which meets processing requirements and officially issued standards. The information flow and quality of the data statistics and transmission can transfer data to railway administration department in time without error. All subsystems can satisfy the requirements of the related documents and data exchanging criterion of the railway departments. In the real operation of about half a year, the wheel examination-and-repair capacity of the pipelining increases by 50%, and creates considerable economy benefit.
