Illumination,especially road illumination, has become an important part in modern city building with wide attention. Accordingly, the study of simulation of illumination design and lamps design has become a research with common concern by the designers and the computer professionals.The paper advances the design principle and the framework of system implementation of the effect-oriented light source, which concerns the user's requirements. On the other hand, the principle and the framework are based on the analysis and research of the design and computer simulation of the physical feature-based light source and the lamp storage-based illumination.The characteristics of the light source design which is effects-oriented is introduced, based on the light source design and illuminating design. Combining graphics and the general principles in software development, the author studies the basic functions of LED road-illuminating simulation system and the critical technologies in the implementation process of the software. This paper makes the LED light source as the object of reserch, studies the single LED illumination, multiple LED illumination, and the features and rules of the LED matrix illumination, besides, simulates and analizes the illumination effects. On the basis, the author designs the method of square and rectangle LED matrix illumination according to the lighting effects, summarizes the corresponding rules, finally gives the design method and the result. At last, the design result and the light effects are compared with the initial demands, which prove the result satisfied the light's requirement, and validate the correctness of the effect-oriented lighting source design.
