As a kind of traditional architecture structure from generation to generation, many aspects as combines topography, save area, meet climatic conditions, save energy, use local material and pay attention to environmental ecology and so on embody harmony growing with the nature.This paper analyses and research the traditional dwelling of Miao ethnic group basing on the investigation. The first part analyses origin and development of ganlan-styled residential architecture, then introduces the historical culture background of Miao ethnic group and summarizes the national personality and taste. The second part is about national dwelling culture, including natural environment, social economy, custom, national beauty taste, the contact with other nations. In this part, the paper investigates the dwelling surrounding and architecture arts mainly, and summarizes the inspiration for modern architecture. In the end, we cann't ignore protection while we emphasis development of ganlan-styled residential architecture of Miao, because the reference and development could be better on the basis of protecting properly.
