Reactive power optimization is an effective measure to keep power system safe and economical, and an important method to improve voltage profile. It is valuable to study the problem of reactive power optimization.The reactive power plays an important role in power system. reactive power optimization can improve the quality of voltage and decrease the loss of networks. In reactive power optimization, the taps of transformer, the capacity of reactive power sources and the voltage of generators are usually chosen as control variables; the bus voltage magnitudes are chosen as state variables. The object is to minimize the sum of loss and give attention to the quality of voltage.To solve the actual reactive power optimization of Tong liao local power system in 2010, the reactive power optimization algorithm based on immune genetic algorithm (IGA) is presented in this thesis. The actual operation conditions of Tong liao local power system are analyzed. the proposed algorithm calculates the optimal sites and capabilities of capacitor compensating. in 2010 the electrical network plan has the guiding sense to the Tongliao local Power System.
