Low frequency oscillation is an important factor that always affects the security and stabilization of power system. This dissertation concentrates on the research of power system low frequency oscillations of resonance mechanism, the two-machine system was established in this paper. The relationship between natural oscillation frequency and damping of two-machine system was analyzed. IEEE39 system was taken as a research object with PSS/E, the character of oscillation in multi-machine system was study, especially the power oscillation of connection lines in local mode and inter-area mode. With the transformation program between BPA and PSS/E developed by our laboratory members, who transmit the format of the South China Power Grid data in small operation way in 2005 from BPA to PSS/E, improve the validation of power flow data and dynamic data. Then using the small signal analysis, we get the main oscillation mode,participation factor and damping ratio. I enforce the sine disturbance on mechanical power in power plant Qianbei, which has the natural frequency of the system, the oscillation curve of Luoma is observed. Comparing with the record data in real operation, we analyze the similarity and differences, try to explain the reason of"513"low frequency oscillation of South Grid with resonance mechanism.
