A Study On Monitoring Methods Integration Of Urban Spatial Evolution And Its Application

The acceleration of Chinese urbanization impelled the change about the path of urban spatial evolution, and it also brought on some natural and social problems such as waste of land, environment destruction, unbalanced internal structure, intensified social difference and so on. Meanwhile, owing to the contradiction between limited dynamic of urban planning and infinite dynamic of urban spatial evolution, urban planning was unable to undertake the responsibility that guide the urban space evolving in a reasonable direction well and truly. Thus, it is urgent to improve the monitoring capacity of urban spatial evolution so as to provide the technical support for the scientific decision-making in urban planning and solve the problems occurred in the double-quick process of urban spatial evolution. Based on systematic integration on internal and external research results relating with urban spatial evolution, combined the cognition demands to urban spatial evolution in the process of planning formulation, the thesis centered on "monitoring" and constructed a technical system of urban spatial evolution monitoring. And also the applied research was conducted in Dalian urban built-up area.Six chapters are included in the thesis:Chapter 1 is the introduction. First, the research background, the significance, the content, the method and research framework of the dissertation is elaborated. Then, a systematic summary of relative literature is given. It found that these studies were dispersed, confusing and mixed, and lacked a systematic research framework as well as the contacting platform. Therefore, the thesis turns "urban spatial evolution monitoring methods integration and applied research" into a breakthrough point and angle of view. In chapter 2, the monitoring theory and methods of urban spatial evolution is studied. Under the space dimension in urban built-up area, the monitoring theory frame is established according to the principle of space-time compound. Based on this framework, the technical system of urban spatial evolution monitoring is established, including the system of monitoring characters and the system of methods matched with monitoring characters.In Chapter 3, the general situation of study area and the methods of data processing is stated. On the basis of processing 8 Dalian present land-use map since 1901 a spatial database is built up, meanwhile, point interpolation method is used in the data process to transform discontinuous data into the continuous.In chapter 4, the past process of Dalian urban spatial evolution is revivified. First, the process of Dalian external urban spatial extension is revivified from two aspects of time and space array by using corresponding monitoring characters. Then, the process of Dalian internal urban spatial differentiation is also revivified from aspects of exclusive spatial extension and internal spatial succession.Chapter 5 is the forecast of Dalian urban spatial evolution in the future. According to the principle of assisting the urban planning formulation, the potential extending configuration, intending extension periods and possible extending direction that corresponding with external urban space of Dalian is forecast,meanwhile, in allusion to internal Dalian urban space, the paper forecasts the evolution of internal spatial structure and the potential occurring areas for internal urban space succession.Chapter 6 is the conclusion and discussion. Based on brief review of the whole thesis the paper summarizes the main research conclusions, and points out the main innovations as well as the existing insufficiencies in the thesis.
