Study On Urban Design Based On Regional Characters

With the globalization and urbanization speeding up, the urban planning is faced with the urgent need of regional culture study. Under this background, it is very important to focus on studying regional culture and its characters in the field of urban design, and then fully analysis the developmental process of urban space with the view of culture, in order to overcome all kinds of city's difficulties, foster a good and healthy city image, propel the subject of urban design forward and entertain the inner man.Based on the study of regional culture and space theories of urban design, the paper analysis the tradition axis space of Fuzhou and the Xigu mountain park in Lanzhou in such three aspects: nature, humanism, society and economy. Furthermore, the paper studies the examples around the foundation, the space structure and space form, and explains how the examples to tap and express, last and integrate the regional culture in the design. By drawing on the successful experiences, the paper gives active consideration to the epistemology and the methodology of urban design based on regional characters, and tries to explode the way to express the regional characters in urban design with the view of regional culture.Starting from the study of regional characters and the deep research of the subject of urban design, it attemps to form a kind of cognitive concept and research method of urban design rooting in the regional culture. So we can understand the value of urban design on an even profounder level, deepen the "humanism" idea of urban design, and realize the aim to guide and evaluate urban design and its relevant practices.
