Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has shown huge competitive power in many fields on behalf of its simple construction, reliability, high efficiency and low cost. Its features of multi-variable, strong coupling, non-linear have brought the great difficulty for the SRM designers. Based on the research of SRM design method, this paper has described procedure for SRM design, and a set of software has been developed. The work increased the efficiency of the SRM design.In summing up SRM design methods at home and abroad, the paper determined the key point to be the model parameters' accurate computation and simulation. In magnetization curve's computation aspect, analyzed former commonly used methods, proposed an analytical model of the end inductance. Through 2D and 3D finite element analysis, validation has been performed. The model has more stable and higher precision than the end coefficient method through validation with different SR motors. It improves the adaptation to structure of the motor, provides a guarantee for the calculation of SRM's performance rapidly and accurately. The paper inferred the SRM simulation algorithm according to the SRM mathematical model, and compared with model simulation's result in Matlab, has confirmed the simulation computation's accuracy.In the software design aspect, the form of module has been adopted. Many commonly used functions have been packed into independent modules, to enhance the adaptability of the software, and reusability. Finally through a demonstration of prototype SRM design, simulation and performance calculation are presented.
