Due to the virtue of the simple and rugged structure, switch reluctance motor has a good application prospects in aerospace field. Two-channel switch reluctance motor could improve system reliability by divided the windings into two groups with separate power converter to control, because power converter is the weak part of the system.There is a strong electromagnetic coupling between the two channels of the two-channel switched reluctance motor, for the two part windings around the same set of stator core. So the coupling problem was analyzed at the first part of the paper. And the aim of the two channels decoupling was achieved by changing the winding-connection. With the channels independent characteristics, the two-channel switched reluctance motor model was established. And the characteristics of power converter failure, lack of phase and single-channel operating modes were studied based on this model.There is a current asymmetry problem between the two channels when using the new winding-connect method. So a bipolar power supply strategy was presented. With the strategy, the purpose of symmetrical two-channel currents was realized. Moreover, the iron loss was reduced significantly.The position sensors are weak parts, because they were installed inside of the motor, in a vibration, high temperature, and dusty environment. So an integrated management method was presented in this paper. With the method, the position sensors could operate under fault condition.Finally, a system platform was build, and the above experiment was completed on the system platform.
