Abstract/Summary:
Thanks to the oversampling and noise sharp technology, the delta-sigma analog-to digital converters could supply high signal-noise-rate. At the same time, because of the using advanced digital filter and the oversampling tech, a high performance delta-sigma ADC require much simpler and easier circuit than ever any other data converter structure. Therefore, high performance delta-sigma ADC is desirable in applications where high resolutions and high bandwidths are required.First of all, the thesis introduces the meaning and the development of energy metering. And then, it presents the basic conception of delta-sigma as well as proposes a design of a high performance delta-sigma ADC. According to the application of energy metering, we design a second order delta-sigma ADC though the system level design, behavior design and the transistor design. In the system level design, because of the fast simulation and extractive model, we use matlab to determine the structure of modulator, the optimized parameter and establish a simulink model to verify the result of matlab design. Then, the verilog-A behavior module is used to replace the complicated analog components such as Op-amp in order to help the researcher focus on the specific design of time schedule and the analysis of error mechanism of delta-sigma modulator. At the end, we could use the spec which determined by matlab model and verilog-A model to finish the transistor circuit design.
