Computer-Aided Process Planning is one of the essential elements in product design and production process, has significant influence on reducing production cost. In this thesis, the research works on the techniques of tube bending process modeling, geometric parameter access, process parameter calculation and manufacturability evaluation have been done supported by the project of defense foundation research - Process Modeling and Simulation Platform as well as Process Database Development. The main works and achievements of the thesis are as follows:1 A model of object-oriented tube bending process is established based on the process analysis of satellite,ship and missile using object-oriented modeling techniques. Associative relationships of the model with product information, manufacture resource information and process information are set up. So the process integrated management and optimum configuration is realized.2 A Web-based processor for tube STEP files is developed. 3D-description method of the tube shape is given. The conversion from absolute coordinates of the tube endpoints to machining coordinates is established. The method to access geometric parameters of external tube models in STEP files format was put forward, so the Web-based information input of tube geometric parameters are realized.3 Analyzed the manufacturability evaluation indicators and their definition, the goal-driven based decision-making process of the manufacturability evaluation is established.4 Providing a process parameter calculation method concerning a variety of methods, such as searching from databases, experience formula, neural networks and interactive forecast revisions. A software module for process parameter calculation and tube bending process database are developed to implement storing, integrating and sharing of the data.5 Established a process card information model. A process planning model combining of search and interactive process planning is given. A Web-based tube bending process planning system is designed and developed. The output interface of the process card information is set up to improve the compatibility and adaptability of the system.
