The climate features of hot-summer and cold-winter region is that it is stuffy and hot in summer but wet and cold in winter, the temperature difference between day and night is small, the annual precipitation is large and the sunlight is not enough. For long time, the separate hot and the heat preservation condition of building in hot-summer and cold-winter region basically have no improvement. Under this condition, indoor thermal environment of building is very bad.Along with the advance of income and life level, air condition become as a kind of very widespread phenomenon. However, the realization of air condition effect must under a guarantee of goodly building envelope. Goodly building envelope design not only can reduce the demand of air condition, but also conserve energy.This paper take cavity wall as the main investigate object in village and small town in hot-summer and cold-winter region. Adopt the method of experimentation, simulation, calculation and analysis, investigate the thermal performance of cavity wall. Under the realization of the thermal performance of cavity wall, bring forward some measure to improve its thermal performance, and give some economy and adaptablity analysis.From the experimentation and simulation of cavity wall and solid wall, guaranteeing that cavity wall has the same heat preservation performance as solid wall, and little worse heat insulation performance than cavity wall. But cavity wall economizes 40% architecture than solid wall. So synthetically speaking, cavity wall has more advantages on the low-rise buildings in village and small town.From the investigation of cavity wall improvements, guaranteeing that do some resultful improvements can enhance wall's thermal performance significantly. These improvements not only change the thermal environment, but also save energy and have some economic benefits. These improvements have a very high value in popularization in village and smalltown.Basis of the result of investigation, cavity wall has good thermal performance, lower price, easier construction technology, better acoustics performance, better adaptablity and so on. So in a long period from now on, cavity wall still keeps being a kind of wall with deep potential and strong comprehensive performance, has spreading and utilization worthiness in village and small town in hot-summer and cold-winter region.
