The reliability of HV/EHV transmission line protection is important to the security of the power system,This thesis is devoted in the study of the transient current protection for HV/EHV transmission line. Electric power transient signal analysis is the basis of realizing transient based protection, In order to ensure protectors correct operation, it's necessary for finding an appropriate right quantum to detect kinds of faults and differentiate internal faults and external faults. So it's important to build a suit of efficient methodology used in detection and analysis.
