In this paper, traditional Ant Colony System Algorithm and its application of distribution network reconfiguration are researched. The traditional Ant Colony System Algorithm is improved in the aspect of searching process and pheromone modification. Using the new searching method, the defects of low searching efficiency and easy to fall into local minimum in traditional Ant Colony System Algorithm are remedied. The reconfiguration result shows that the modified algorithm is efficiency and feasibility. A new reconfiguration model, which considers four objectives, minimization of real loss, voltage deviation from nominal, the rate of branch current and numbers of switches changing is presented. Pareto optimality is used to evaluate results and extend through to keep optimization and pheromone updating process in Ant Colony System Algorithm. The reconfiguration results show this method applicability and feasibility.
