Study On The Application Of Bus Rapid Transit And Transit-Oriented Development In Guiyang

With Guiyang as the studying area, this paper aims to discuss the principle of bus rapid transit(BRT), analyse several examples in the world, and the ways of transit intelligent and informational operation . BRT should be used in Guiyang in order to improve transit serve level , chase social and economic benefits and reduce pullusional realeasing. The advantage of BRT is obvious. The Study on the application of Bus Rapid Transit and Transit-Oriented Development in Guiyang is important for its sustainable development. Then we discus the problems involved in the implementing methods of the proposed urban plans, the potential benefits and the noticeable matters when adopting the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) strategy for the constructionof an ecological city and realizing a harmonious development in Guiyang. First we review the situations of TOD in several countries and argue that the TOD can serve to effectively integrate the development of transportation and the land use planning. Secondly, we analyze the traffic demand based on the master plan of the city and qualitatively the potential damages if auto-oriented development is implemented. And then the ways of implementing the TOD strategy in Guiyang and its benefits are examined.
