In this paper, the designed, construction and test of a FM multiplex broadcasting system is reported. The physical layer and data link layer of this broadcasting system has been designed by referring to the DARC protocol. The protocol has been proved to be both of high transmission speed and of good mobile reception performance.The unique points of our work is that we constructed the physical layer by embedded system and digital electronic techniques and we realized most of the function of the data link layer by software programming, i.e. the encoding of data and decoding of data could all be done by software program, integrated into the traffic analysis platform we developed previously. This is proved to be more economical and more flexible comparing with an all-hardware system. The system is also combined with the vehicle navigation system developped by Pioneer and the digital map system of NaviInfo. The dynamic traffic state could be reflected on the digital map on the navigator now. Preliminary experiments of this system have been carried out. The preliminary results are proved to be promising.
