At the same time, more and more people occupy these space without plan.The present thesis is the result of study the situation of the viaduct in shanghai and learned that there are several reasons affect these space ,such as the structure covering the sunlight, the waste powder from the high way. Noise and vibrate of cars also make the residual space under viaduct become worse. This kind of space along the viaduct continue long consecution to the big influence of the city area, and far above other forms construct. The present Theories according to the useful value of the residual space under verdict ,these space have its own characteristic which different with other space in our city. The present thesis study the valuable of the residual space in it's Aggressive, inevitability, dynamic state. The structure characteristic is the important condition decide whether the residual space can be make use of.After coordinating the information and analyzing the affects from the elements of the viaduct structure . The present thesis distinguish the valuable space and unavailable space. And studied the distributing of these space in Shanghai. In the base of the theory of Jan Gehl 's analyzing action and behavior of people . The present thesis study the behavior occurring under the viaducts. And coordinating the different kind of space according to the people' s behavior.In the finality, thesis sums up the instance and problems in order to table a proposal of making the residual space valuable. And the problems requiring further studies are discussed.
