Along with the fast development of international trade, ship and tourism, the shipwreck and personnel casualty increase gradually. The prompt and effective marine rescue not only can safeguard people personal safety and property, but also can safeguard shipping security and maintain the social stability. At present, the rescue equipment of our country is relative backwardness, which will immediate influence rescue result. To improve the rescue efficiency, the imaging character on the sea is analyzed, the rang-gated technique is used as rationale, the system of rang-gated imaging technique of detecting objects on the sea is designed, which will provide a new rescue method for salvage.The precondition of rescue on the sea is object detecting. Rang-gated technology use laser and ICCD, which could overcome disadvantages of tradition passive imaging system and also could effectively suppress the infection brought by atmospheric backscattering. Compare with other imaging method, the rang-gated technique has advantages of high imaging quality, high imaging contrast and will not restrict by whether condition. So the rang-gated technology is suitable to be used in rescue on the sea.The paper takes rescue on the sea as research background, takes the rang-gated laser inactive imaging technology as theories foundation, designed the system of rang-gated imaging technique of detecting objects on the sea. The rang-gated control circuit that based on FPGA chip belonged to cyclone family of Altera Corporation is designed, realized functions as regulating rang-gated distance and output impulse width. The rang-gated image pretreatment and Otus sea air division and false color transformation are realized to improve the image resolving power, at the same time graphic model processing method basing on rang-gated technology is discussed. Software system is designed to realize rang-gated distance setting based on UART and image processing arithmetic. Preliminary experiment and simulation result indicate that the technique approach of the system is feasible and achieved the expectation effect, which will establish the technology foundation of rescue imaging system on the sea.
