Magnetic Bearing is a kind of good performance bearing which didn't directly touch with other machine. It is very different from the traditional form of supporting. In the filed of high.tech such as industrial control, super high.velocity, precision process, avigation and spaceflight, robot, energy sources, transportation and so on, Magnetic Bearing have extensive background of application. It has many advantages, so we spend much time in researching in it. By 30 years development, Magnetic Bearing is more and more used in foreigner country. Magnetic Bearing research experiment may include single.input single.output identification, multi.input multi.output identification, classical control design, feedback linearization, nonlinear control synthesis, multivariable control synthesis, adaptive control design.In this paper, we introduce the status quo and trend of Electromagnetic Bearing, expatiate the basic operational theory. In our experiment, we consider horizontal direction and perpendicular direction decouple, so we utilize state space description analysis system model. Think about the rotor bend and the electromagnetic force which is the nonlinear function of displacement and control current, the model is not good; we use single.input single.output identification to canalize the model. Because the rotor bend and the electromagnetic force which is the nonlinear function of displacement and control current, system tend to resonance. In this paper, one filter is proposed for the first resonance. It is necessary to design controller for Electromagnetic Bearing which is an unstable system。Electromagnetic Bearing have four controllers, we use the some controllers of itself for the design of SISO, following that, we design the MIMO system in frequency domain which base on the polynomial matrix theory.This paper has four methods in the design of control item. These are classic control design of SISO Magnetic Bearing system; modern control design of SISO Magnetic Bearing system; MIMO design of Magnetic Bearing system; the out.put feedback design of compensator. Then analyze the advantages and disvantages of each method, I have a good understanding and comparison.
