The high voltage switch cabinet is one kind of important controlling devices in power utilities, which plays an important role in keeping the electric system safe and secure. The high voltage switch cabinets are always running under the high voltage, large current and strong magnetic field environment. And most high voltage switch cabinets adopted the enclosed construction which will lead to many problems, such as dissipating heat slowly. These environments seriously endanger the high voltage switch cabinets and may even damage them. So, in order to keep the safety of the high voltage switch cabinets and improve the electric power system security, we need to know the real time temperature changes of the high voltage switch cabinets to take previous actions. But the traditional method of temperature measurement is falling behind because that the function is single and can't meet the need of real-time and unattended monitoring of the high voltage switch cabinet's temperature. So, the electric power companies are crying out a real-time and unattended monitor for the high voltage switch cabinet.In this paper, we researched on the function of the real-time monitor for high tension switch cabinet and brought forward the genial design, which was devided into three part: temperature data acquisition system, communication system and background software to research separately.We first introduced the hardware design of the real-time monitor for high tension switch cabinet detailly; then we designed the software of this device based on Keil c software platform. The design of the real-time monitor for high tension switch cabinet realized the functions as follows: the high voltage bus temperature testing, the air temperature testing of the cabinets, infrared data transmission, LCD display, keyboard entry, ethernet and so on. At last, the background software design was introduced. It was base on C++ programming environment and Object Oriental Technique, which realized the functions as follows: data transmission and display, alarm, storage task and so on. In the end, we finished debugging the whole system and carried out the technological forecasting for this system.
