The advantages of concrete small hollow blocks are energy-saving, tilth-saving, efficiency, mortar-decreasing, and high efficient usage of the construction. The crevices of it, however, limit the development of concrete small hollow blocks severely. Therefore, it is necessary to further research this problem. The causes of crevices are various as well as methods of its preventions. The contents involved in this article are the structural designing, characteristics of constructing, the cause of crevices, the arithmetic of preventing crevices, and the methods of crevices control.First, from the introducing of the developing of the concrete small hollow blocks, known as the main constructing materials all over the world, people know it can save the resources of land, and small unit weight brings the low-weight of building which are good to decrease the counterforce of basis and anti-earthquake. Also, it brings the advantages of fast, lower price of constructing as well as larger utilization area.In chapter 2, it is the cause of small hollow blocks. Generally, it includes the structural crevices, such as temperature crevices, asymmetric basis sinking crevices, and non-structural crevices, such as dry shrinking crevices, crevices of constructing and designing, the crevices caused by its own features and so on. And it concludes the causes of crevices by temperature, basis, ratio of mortar, resisting force and shearing force.In chapter 3, it is the calculation of internal force of small hollow blocks. Only structural crevices can be calculated by the internal and experienced formula while non-structural crevices can't be because of its non-connection between crevices and structural load or structural distortion. This article mainly concerned the temperature stress.In chapter 4, it is the example analyzing of prevention of crevices. By experimenting, the article analyzed the cause of external forces of crevices and concluded the reasonable structural system and its construction of the small concrete hollow blocks during the designing.In chapter 5, according to the designing, constructing, cause of crevices and deficiency of criteria, by comparing the preventions and controlling effects of various crevices, the article provided some design and constructing methods of controlling crevices.In chapter 6, by putting per theory into practical construction, and utilizing measures accordingly, these effects proved the rationality of the theory.In chapter 7, the article summarized these experiments in these chapters concerning temperature, stress. Since the environmental protecting requirement, the research field of the combination of crevices control and constructing energy-saving will be a potential direction in future.
