Fault analysis and calculation of power system are the basic tools for designing, planning and running of power system. It is quiet necessary and important in theory and application to build a new fault analysis software which adopt an advanced method with canonical organization, that is convenient for fault analysis and has better calculation efficiency for any condition. Based on the symmetrical component method and using C++ computer language , a high-effective fault calculation program was studied. The following are the main contributions of this work:Represent sever fault calculate methods that all based on the sequence component, such as ports sequence-net algorithm, computer canonical algorithm and compensation algorithm. A viewpoint that is considered the compensation algorithm is only an development of canonical algorithm on the aspect of the fault matrix formulation was pointed.Applying the regular compensation algorithm, the paper deduced a universal formula that could deal with all kinds of complex faults in one branch.Based on the compensation algorithm, an program using C++ language was made that could set all several complex faults. The result which was verified through IEEE 30 node system was correct.
