Present research about the vierendeel truss mainly concentrates on the vierendeel truss of rods system, but there is less study on the wall-frame vierendeel truss. Although"concrete structure design code"has regulations that can be as a basis for design of the member of wall-frame vierendeel truss of concrete in deep flexural member and deep beam design,the wall-frame vierendeel truss of structure has many aspects to be investigated further, such as structure composing, stress characteristic etc. On the design of section of structure, there are some questions need to be probed.This paper performs the stress analysis of the vierendeel truss under the action of vertical load, studies the performance of stress and deformation of the vierendeel truss of rods system under uniformly distributed loading at first. By making use of the orthogonal experiment design method, the paper takes into account various of factors (span , height , panel length ,section size of chords and braces,forms of supports) which effect the bearing capacity and deformability of vierendeel truss. Studies show that panel length and section size of chords and braces have great influence on the bearing capacity of the vierendeel truss. Finally this paper analyzes the influence of factors quantitatively on the bearing capacity, figures out the proper span of each factor.The paper puts forward the concept of the wall-frame vierendeel truss and compares the differences between two kinds of vierendeel truss, on which elaborating the theoretical basis of the wall-frame vierendeel truss based. It also analyzes the influence of span-depth ratio, panel length, section size of chords and braces on bearing capacity; summarizes the stress characteristics of wall-frame vierendeel truss.Direct against the characteristic of the wall-frame vierendeel truss, integral calculation of the wall-frame vierendeel truss has been studied in this paper. Having analyzed several kinds of the domestic and international popular software, this paper draws a conclusion that utilizing STAWE software and ANSYS software to calculate wall–frame vierendeel truss is more suitable. Element PLANE42 in ANSYS is used for analyzing and calculating the wall-frame vierendeel truss in this paper.For the design of member of the wall-frame vierendeel truss, this paper adopts design method of eccentric compression components in code, considering the influence of grades of steel bar on bearing capacity,puts forward formulae by using the method of curve fitting. The results of calculation are more ideal compared to some examples.
