| Wuhan is in possession of abundant lake resources, but the problems are just the water. According to investigation to urban lakes landscape in Wuhan, I analyzed the important role of urban lakes in Wuhan to provide public space, to maintain the ecological security, to create urban character and so on. These issues are also confronted with urban lakes. Then, divided urban lakes in Wuhan into three patterns: public space-type lakes, spanning urban and rural scenic-type lakes, outskirts ecology-type lakes. Through the study of development and theories(city image, ecological planning, the city to tomorrow, essences of urban park movement) of domestic and national urban lakes landscape, I concluded that the general principles for figuring landscape of urban lakes in Wuhan, such as, functions leading, preference of ecology, character, network jointed to guide landscape figuring of urban lakes in Wuhan.For landscape figuring of public space-type lakes, analyzed their functions, such as city park, urban public centers, node to city image, against the abuse about less green space, spatial segregation between the lakes and city, the lack of links among rivers and lakes, giving the methods of extending green space, meeting client needs, strengthening links between lakes and city, optimizing water landscape. For spanning urban and rural scenic-type lakes, I think these lakes are not only scenic spot but also a bank for citizen lives, giving the methods to correspond the relations between lakes and city, highlight the natural and cultural resources features; finally, strengthen my views by typical example of Donghu scenic spot so that it can be used for reference to other spanning urban and rural scenic-type lakes in Wuhan. For outskirts ecology-type lakes, providing the means to figure abundant ecological landscape; conceiving the ecological network that formed by suburban lakes, urban parks, agricultural land, woodland. Then give the suggestion to harmonize protecting and using.
