| This dissertation takes the staircases of spontaneous settlements as the research subject. By some effective ways, such as literature reading, filed investigation, interviews and records, drawing charts and so on, the paper has fulfilled the comprehensive study not only on the material space but on the spatial cognition of Han Zheng Jie.The research consists of three phases: the first, it focuses on obtaining the distribution of basic self-building staircases by the investigation and analysis of the density of the self-building stairs that were built in Han Zheng Jie. The second, it focuses on the analysis of self-building staircases from the material, form, slope, steps and its surrounding environment, the gray space under the staircases, the upper space linked and so on, by the drawing charts of 50 cases in Han Zheng Jie. And the basic principle of self-building staircases and the most common types of the staircases would be known through the analysis of 15 specific cases. The third, it focuses on obtaining the various types of self-building staircases by the analysis of two special cases selected.Through these two aspects mentioned above, this paper exposes the internal rules of the self-building staircases by analyzing the materials (X), form (Y), and the relation of the lanes and alleys (Z). In addition, the slope of the self-building staircases reflects the density of Han Zheng Jie area, and the spontaneous construction also reflects the importance of the public participation in the urban and architectural design. As a result, the research accomplishes the analysis through the appearance and the configuration. |
