There are millions of kilometers roads in our country at present. The roadsurface is mainly covered by the asphalt pavement or concrete. As far as theroad marking materials are concerned, the thermal petroleum resin coating ismainly used on the expressway and the solvent acrylic resin coating on the otherlow grade roads. And a few double-component methyl methacrylate coating isalso used on the expressway. The thermal petroleum resin coating and thesolvent acrylic resin coating have the better cohesiveness and weather resistanceon the asphalt pavement. But on the concrete road surface their cohesivenessand other performances are worse because of their own physical and chemicalperformance limitation. The use of methyl methacrylate road coating isrestricted due to its higher price. Therefore, the road marking coating which isinexpensive and has high performance is paid more attention to be studied. The epoxy resin coating was chosen for studying and developing at first because ofits good comprehensive performance and low price.In the paper, the modified aliphatic amine meeting the project request wasfound by doing comparison experiments in several kinds of epoxy resin curingagent. When the mass ratio of the modified aliphatic amine and epoxy resinDYD-128 was 1/2 and join a few curing accelerator DMP-30, the epoxy resincould be quickly solidified and its film had good weathering resistance.Firstly, the epoxy resin was analyzed by the IR before and after beingsolidified, the results indicated that the modified aliphatic amine and epoxy resincould be more sufficiently reacted when their ratio was 1/2, moreover, thesolidified film was very polish. The two components had the same viscosity atabout 60℃by heating. The ratio of the tow components is more stable.Secondly, the developed epoxy resin road marking coating had goodweathering resistance by testing its glossiness after solidification. By testing theabrasive resistance of the coating film sample, it was found that the averageabrasion losses were 21.17mg, 26.33mg and 26.30mg respectively, which weresmaller than the national correlation standard, 40mg. The results also indicatedthe coating film had good abrasive resistance. Its breaking stresses were8.995KN and 10.613KN, and the tensile strength were 0.8995MPa and1.0613MPa, which were higher than the national correlation standard, 0.69MPa.It also indicated the coating had excellent felting performance.At the same time, the interface of the coating film between the basal material was observed by the electron microscope, the reason for the coatingwith good felting strength was initially analyzed. And also the impact strength ofthe coating film was tested, its value was bigger than the correlation standard,400N·cm.Finally, the coating covering power was also tested, its average value was4381.35g/m~2, which was smaller than 5000 g/m~2 of the thermal petroleum resincoating.In addition, many tests were done on the road surface after tested inlaboratory. The effect of the road mark was good after detection of the Ministryof Communications traffic project detection centre. At the same time, the coatingsample was also sent to Ministry of Communication for being detected and theresult also met the request.
