Generator is a very important device for power system. How to monitor its work condition effectively has been an important subject for the electricity sector. The insulation is a key factor to make generators work safely. The used generator insulation monitors have many shortcomings, such as low precision, limited application and so on. At this, in this essay we will introduce a high sensitive monitor, FJR, which is used to detect whether the insulation of generator is overheat or aging, to keep generators working well. This device can be used for different cooling agencies i.e. hydrogen, air or water which depends on the generators. The whole monitor system consists of two parts: gas pipeline and electro circuit. The gas pipeline is responsible for converting the condition of the insulation into the current signals, and the electro circuit is responsible for detecting and processing the currents. In this essay, we consider the gas pipeline as a black box, and focus on the electro circuit. The main job of the electrocircuit is to sample the two currents from gas pipeline, do some calculation and analysis, and decide whether to give an alarm signal. At the same time, it displays the sampling data and the result of analysis qualitatively.The backgrounds of this essay are introduced in the first chapter, and the targets of this essay are given.In the second chapters, the total functions of the FJR system are analyzed and specified. Based on these, a scheme is proposed: make an ARM processor a host in charge of system control and LCD driving, and make a DSP a slave to do signal sampling and calculation. In chapter 3, embedded system and its software development are introduced, also are functions based on this part. In chapter 4, DSP system which takes care of sampling, calculation and some other functions is introduced, along with peripheral equipment related. After that, how the communication between DSP and ARM goes are described, also are the frame format used. In chapter 5, descriptions about some hardware circuit of the system are given to get readers a more comprehensive understanding of the system.Also in this chapter, some experience of board design are given. In the final chapter, a conclusion is made to summarize the work done in this essay, and point out the improvement, which shows the tasks and directions of further study.
