Hinterland, also named port area, is the please where ports Collected and Distributed cargos. According to port development scale and features, port hinterland segmentation could be confirmed with the research of surrounding areas' supply situation and development potential. Port hinterland segmentation is also affected by throughput structure, disperse and volume of cargo, transport method and any other influence factors. This paper takes a view of the key point on researching the development scale and features of port. Based on this conclusion, this article first researches the relationship between port and hinterland, summarizing the recent methods of port hinterland segmentation. Then from the economy spatial mode, it focuses on the comparing F_q and F_y, which are from port located attractiveness model and port attraction model, with the research of concept and features of port's attractive force and attractive field. By using the conclusion of former research, a new method to divide hinterlands has been adopted based on attractive force model, and concrete steps and explain has been set out. After that inducts the mainly influence factors of port's attractive force, researching the list of the influence relevancy of all indexes and the result has been qualified and quantified analysis. Finally, Dalian Port has been as an example, based on its historical statistics of throughput structure and export volume, the attractive radius of Dalian Port has been quantified in 2000 and 2005, and a rough region for hinterlands has been found. At last, the effectiveness of attractive radius has been validated.
