This paper reviews the history of the development of the power system transient stability emergency control and analyzes the deficiency of the present strategies of generator/load shedding, then develops a new strategy of generator/load shedding for transient stability, this strategy is basis of the actual fault trajectory, its result is responsible and can be worked out promptly, therefore, this strategy has potential to be used on line.Firstly, the load potential energy function is proposed based on the branch transient potential energy method, then many simulations are carried out to testify the validity of the load transient potential energy function and a further research on the distribution of the network potential energy during the transient period is done.Secondly, in this paper, this strategy is on the basis of actual fault trajectory, it can cooperate with the real-time data which is measured by PMU . the energy margin of the critical generator is obtained by simulation, and the surplus energy which leads the critical generator unstable should be eliminated by generator tripping, moreover, on one hand, the generator tripping reduce the kinetic energy of the generator and on the other hand, it enlarges the potential energy of the critical generator, simultaneously.Furthermore, a new strategy of load shedding which aims at the heavily stressed transmission network is proposed through the analysis on the descent slope and interferential degree of the load energy during the fault time under the actual fault trajectory. Not only is the speed quick, but the accuracy is high, thus the new strategy achieves the simplification control strategy table.
