Study Of The Planning And Developing Strategy For Urban Waterfront Of Northern Cities

As a special environment district and the most lifeful public open-space in the city, urban waterfront offers a precious waterside environment and green open space. And it becomes the carrier of social culture.Our country has a very wide developing prospect of urban waterfront, for most of the cities have coastlines of different length and lots of rivers, lakes and bank lines. At the same time, comprehensive development of urban waterfront, which amalgamate with city renovation, culture and history, have been more and more important to all the governments.These days, with the rapid growth of economy and the gradual improvement of environmental quality awareness, the question that how to organize the city life combining with the natural environment and history culture, and following the actual economic law and market mechanism, should become a subject for analysis in urban construction.However, domestic study of urban waterfront is still at an elementary stage, especially in the northern cities. We have rich natural resources in northern areas. But as a result of the climate, culture, development codition, daily habit and so on, development and plan of urban waterfront in northern areas is very different from which in the south. Therefore, we choose urban waterfront in northern areas as the object of study, which has practical significance that can offer scientific foundation and reference for government departments and designers in northern cities. And such kind of studies will enrich the experience of urban waterfront planning in our country.This paper takes Hunhe urban waterfront in Shenyang as an object. By the reviews of urban waterfront development and redevelopment in the world, and study of urban waterfront plan and design theory, we put forward some planning strategies, design methods and control and development strategies. It can offer advice for how to promote city quality and rebuild city image by developing and constructing urban waterfront, to endow the city with new vitality.
