In strip steel rolling processes, the vibration of cold tandem rolling mill is comprehensive and common phenomenon. Vibration is easy to accelerate to destroy equipments, improve the cost of production, reduce product quality and quantity and economical benefit. Therefore, vibration research on cold tandem rolling mill is of great practical significance.The paper bases on spot and actual vibration condition of 2130 cold tandem rolling mill. Firstly by using FEM the dynamics characteristic of frame is analyzed and the natural frequency and primary vibration models of typical modality are found. Then by using analysis the natural frequency of typical modalities are calculated and the results of FEM are compared with, which validates the correctness of FEM and provides the handy and applied method of estimating natural frequency of the structure.The mechanism is studied from vertical and frictional chatter. In the vertical chatter, after the mechanics model of vertical chatter and movement differential equation of system are established, mechanism of production and influencing factors of third-octave mode and reasons of production" and restraining measures of fifth-octave mode are studied. In addition, by changing height of entablature and sectional dimension of upright column, after studying they affect the natural frequency of vertical vibration and weight of frame, A conclusion is made that increasing the height of the entablature is the most reasonable and effective method in both technology and economy for optimizing the structural dimension of frame. In the frictional chatter, after influencing factors and restraining measures are studied and the horizontal vibration of strip steel is analyzed by using the theory of frictional chatter, the movement equation of strip steel's horizontal vibration in deformed area are gained. After the lateral vibration of strip steel is analyzed by using Mathieu equation, its vibration equation and natural frequency are gained.The studies of this paper are completely significant for the development and consummation of vibration theory about cold tandem rolling mill. Also, it is practical and valuable for applying the theory to the production.
