With the speed of the railway passenger car continuously improving and the number of the railway passenger car increasing, the task ensuring the operation safe of the railway passenger car is a more and more difficult. At present, a urgent solution in ensuring the operation safe of the railway passenger is that the repair people can discover failure of equipment and take corresponding measures to prevent it expanding in time. The railway passenger car as a public place, there are many people flowing. So the railway passenger car prone to fires and leakage. In particular, the power supply cables of the railway passenger car have high-voltage. If the leakage of the cables occurred, the consequences would be unthinkable. Therefore, we make use of new technology, new equipment, new methods to monitor the insulation resistance of the cables, so that the operation safe of the railway passenger car and the passengers' safety can be ensured.This paper developed a portable and intelligent insulation detector of the railway passenger car based on SST89E564RD single-chip microcontroller. It is a special equipment which used detect the insulation resistance of the cables. It is used detect insulation resistance on each cables and between cables and ground, when the cables are no current.It discusses about the principle and the constitution of the system and the hardware designing and the software programming. This thesis detail on the implement of some components of the module, which are analog-to-digital converter, data store, data processing and communication interface, as well as the man-machine interface based on LCD which the type is OCMJ4×8C. And user can manipulate the whole processes of insulation resistance detection through this interface, and save the measurement results timely. So it is convenient that the results are transfered via serial interface.The adoption of the single chip microcontroller based SST89E564RD reduces the cost of this system greatly on the operational reliability's foundation, and makes this system possess very high performance-price ratio. Meanwhile, taking into account the interference in use, we take some measures in anti-interference in design of system. In a word, This detector is portable, automatic, stable and anti-interference. It can greatly reduced the labor intensity of user. Therefore, this detector possesses some practical value and good marketing prospects.
