The dynamic characteristics of the boom of the crawler crane is so prominent during the process of boom raising,elevation and rotation , that the main problems which it brought are as following: because the slenderness ratio of truss boom is a little big, and working with second bucking,large deformation and large displacement in most cases, so that this kind of dynamic characteristics cannot be solved by regular analytical or dynamic arithmetic. Besides, so far there is no convenient and accurate arithmetic in the accessional lateral force from the load to the boom during the rotation . Therefore, it is necessary to research the dynamic characteristics of the boom system and the lateral force from the load to it during rotation.With the item background of QUY260 crawler crane project developed by School of Mechanical Engineering of Dalian University of Technology and Xuzhou Heavy Machinery Co. LTD, this paper depicts the virtual prototype of crawler crane which is established by a number of software .And through analyses several typical working status during the process of boom raising,elevation and rotation. Besides, we use Least-squares method to fitting the curve. Here are the outcome of analysis:(1) During the working status of boom rising, through analyses the force of the boom system with different speed, we put forward the method with higher efficiency, and this method can guarantee the force on the boom at the same time, which means, the speed in the initial phase is low, and turn higher to promote the efficiency after the tranquilization of the force, so that the time of boom rising can be shorten.(2) During the elevation and rotation, we analyzed the dynamic characteristics of boom through several aspects: speed,load,diameter of the elevation Rope and stay. Finally we got to the conclusion: the main influence factor of the dynamic characteristics on the boom is speed, so we should pay more attention to in the handle process.(3) We got many statistics of distortion on top of the boom, and got the ratiocinate of the lateral force and the dynamic coefficient. Using the MATLAB software, we fit the curve relative to acceleration and finally gained the expressions to calculate the dynamic coefficient of lateral load, whose correctness has been validated. So the lateral force can be calculated conveniently and the rationality that design can be promoted.
