In recent years, with the development of construction, cranes are used more and morewidely. It is very important to think much of security of cranes. In Cranes' Supervision andCheckout Regulations Ministry of Labour and Social Security ordained that secure protectoris necessary when wheel cranes load more than 16 tons or pedrail cranes load more than 32tons.Under the study of the crane security monitoring system at home and abroad, in this article weanalyzed the stability, reliability and lack of expandability of secure protector in currentcranes. We designed the crane safety monitor based on MSP430 and real time operationsystem namedμC/OS-Ⅱ. The apparatus increases the functions of U disk data storage,Chineseoperation prompt and sensor zero by software again,besides the traditional functions of selfcheck,the alarm when overload, large screen to display various stakeout parameters, trackrecord overload data,RS-232 serial communication and so on.The CPU of this instrument is the SCM MSP430F1611 that is produced by TI Company.The SCM integrates many function modules, such as AD module, watchdog timer,multiplication, etc. There are 48K FLASH meomeries and 10K RAM. Because the SCM haslarge capability ROM, RAM and many I/O interfaces, AD module, and watchdog timer, theinstrument can replace old pattern 51 SCM+expandable ROM, RAM and I/O+AD+watchdog. It can simplify circuits, reduce PCB area and enhance the stability and reliability ofthe system. Moreover, in the circuit we add USB host interface which can read someimportant data by U disk, and we can also set system parameters by U disk.The software ofthe instrument combinedμC/OS-Ⅱreal time operating system and application, which canimprove real-time, reliability, expandability of system function, maintance and secondexploitation of the system.Besides, we adopted a seres of protection to software and hardware to improveanti-jamming of system. For instance, in hardware circuit we used switch power,anti-coupling and bypass capacitance, and shielded shell. In software we used numerical filter,important data backup, watchdog timer and real-time operation system.The last debugging result indicated that the instrument have all the necessary function, itruns reliably and stably. It reaches the anticipated aim and has some applied value.
